Prairie Ghost Towns is an ongoing multimedia project. The aim of this project is to tell the stories of what are now abandoned homesteads and towns in Saskatchewan.
While there is not much left of these old abandoned places, many of the homes still stand as tall and as proud as the homesteaders that built them. Now they are simply shells of the dreams they held. For some, the dreams never flourished due to drought, influenza, downturned economy, or rural planning and development, but for others, the dreams were realized bigger than imagined. These houses are not symbols of failed dreams, but rather symbols of hope, sweat, determination, family, hardships, love and a future for their families to come and their communities they were tied so closely to.
If you have a ghost town photo essay about the Canadian prairies that you would like featured, please contact this site and we'll discuss presenting it.
